●●● DON'T MIX IC AND OOC. It's the most important rule of roleplaying but not everyone seems to know what it means. Here are a few examples of mixing:
1) Using your personal feelings about someone's PB, voice credit, political view, WHATEVER, to influence how your character acts toward them.
2) Deciding that because your character's a jerk, you get to be a jerk to other players.
3) Deciding that a player you don't like should receive the jerk treatment from your character, regardless of who they play.
4) Your characters (if you have multiple ones) all need to gang up on someone and defend one of your characters or a friend's characters.
5) Deciding what another person's character should do in a scene, by writing that they've done it or telling them (not asking them) OOC. (This is also known as god-modding. Don't do it.)
If you do any of these things, you will be asked to correct yourself, then removed from the community. Multiple warnings will not be given.
●●● To tag onto the first rule, bullying of any sort will not be tolerated. Asshole characters are fine, arguments are normal, but if someone comes to us saying that they feel bullied, we will approach you about it. Be calm, we want to hear all sides of the story. If we determine that you've stepped over the line into bullying territory, you may be subject to removal. If not, please take the warning seriously. If it's bothering someone that much, maybe you should step it back? This is just a game after all.
●●● Be realistic. We know celebrity lives can be crazy, but not everyone can be successful in every career while leading a fabulously chaotic tabloid life that portrays them living on nothing but flashbulbs, cheetos and crack. There are very few legitimate triple threats and there is only so much chaos in life. Short version: don't marry and impregnate and miscarry and divorce your character every 5 seconds. It's lame.
●●● Too much realism = bad? This is the "serious storyline" rule. Please contact us for approval if you plan on giving your character any major disease or mental disorder. In order to be respectful to those who deal with these things in real life, we want to know what you're doing and will be keeping an eye on you. You may be told no if we feel you haven't done the research or it may disrespect/upset other members. You should also give us a heads up about any MAJOR controversy. We promise not to tell anyone, but we want to keep an eye out so there isn't a random sex tape outbreak, a community-wide baby boom or 5 car crashes in a month.
●●● At this time, we are allowing non-famous characters to join in the fun. Anyone involved in a career in the entertainment industry as well as relatives of those who are famous are allowed in
idolator. Anyone that the paparazzi would be interested in photographing is a good guideline to go by when creating a non-famous character.
●●● Update every two weeks. Adds and removals will be done on Tuesday and Friday evenings after 9 pm EST, those your deadlines. We will post a warning list if your character has reached two weeks by the time removals occur and you will have until the following removals to update. Extensions may be requested either in the dropbox entry or on the warning list entry. Do not abuse this; you will be notified if it is apparent you are doing do.
●●● If you need a hiatus, please leave a note in our dropbox entry. We may not see it if you post it elsewhere. If one of your characters is on hiatus, they all are and you should not be active on AIM. Hiatuses are not long-term extensions. Unless you have a specific date of your return, you will be removed once your character reaches one month without an update. If you abuse the privilege of asking for hiatuses, we may be forced to limit them.
●●● Be active and enjoy! Pimping is appreciated but activity is loved.
